Welcome to SOM, an iconic office building located in the Zuidas district on Gustav Mahlerlaan. Like all the other office buildings of the Mahler4 development, SOM is named after the architects of the project. The collaboration between the highly acclaimed architects Skidmore, Owings and Merrill has resulted in a unique and anything but conventional office building. SOM has an unmistakable and distinctive character of its own. Through the use of contrasting materials in the façade, such as steel, glass and wood, SOM stands out as an eye-catching landmark on the Zuidas amidst all the high-rise office towers. SOM is a relatively small-scale office building that offers tenants the opportunity to create their own identity. The office building has a U-shape with two entrances: the main entrance on Gustav Mahlerlaan and a smaller entrance on Claude Debussylaan. The ground floor plinth of SOM consists of various commercial units occupied by the gym Clubsportive, salad bar Urban Salad and a dry-cleaning facility. Characteristic features of SOM include the large office floors, large windows that provide plenty of natural daylight and visibility, and the 8 patios located on the 5th floor.
